National Testing Service-India (NTS-I) invites Expression of Interest (EOI) from academicians and scholars working in the area of Linguistics, (Language) Education, Indian Languages, etc. for the preparation of textbooks on basic pedagogical grammar (Secondary Level, 150-175 pages) of the below listed Non-Scheduled Languages. The medium of writing will be English, Hindi, or the concerned language of the State. A sample format for the pedagogical grammar will be provided by the Institute.

  • Non-Scheduled Languages*:-

    *Note :- Non-Scheduled Languages which are not mentioned here but are part of Government recognized school Curriculum of a State/UT may also be chosen to include in the Expression of Interest. However, the Institute may choose to include additional languages in the other phase of the work.
  • Benefits
  • A fixed honorarium of 75,000/- (Seventy-Five Thousand only) as per CIIL norms
  • A contingency amount of upto 10,000/- (Ten Thousand only) for the purchase of dictionaries/books/glossaries required for the work.

  • Eligibility
  • Presently holding a full-time permanent teaching or research post in a Government Recognized University/Institute in India, minimum at the level of Assistant Professor.
  • Holding a PhD in Linguistics/Indian Languages/Education, or any related discipline.
  • Previous experience/research in Grammar Writing/Syntax for/in the concerned language.
  • Preferably a speaker of the concerned language with expert-level LSRW skills.
  • Exposure to Language Teaching, Testing and Evaluation concepts/frameworks.
  • Terms and conditions
  • In routine cases, one academician/scholar will be assigned work only in one language pair. However, two authors may also express to jointly work in one or a maximum of two language pairs
  • In case, a joint Application is submitted by a supervisor (or a faculty member of the department) and a PhD scholar, 60 % of the total amount (both Honorarium and Contingency) will be reserved for the concerned student. Also, the concerned PhD student will be have preferred authorship/editorship than his/her supervisor. The honorarium amount will be subject to extant ITR rules of the Govt. of India.
  • MA/PhD students are not are eligible to apply against the EOI. Adavnced PhD students ( having completed 3 years or more at PhD level), however, may apply as a joint applicant with a faculty member who fulfill the elligibility criteria.
  • The selected scholars/translators/academicians have to enter into an official/legal agreement with the National Testing Service-India, Central Institute of Indian Languages.
  • Assigned work is to be completed within six months (180-200 days) from the date of the assignment.
  • The academicians and scholars will themselves be responsible for the typing of the entire manuscript. Only the standard Unicode fonts shall be used available in the concerned languages. Used fonts shall be sent along with the typed manuscript.
  • Only the manuscript that will meet our standards will be accepted for publication and then only concerned academicians/scholars will become eligible to receive honorarium/editorship/authorship, etc.
  • The contingency amount will only be reimbursed subject to the submission of required tangible materials (dictionaries/glossaries/books, etc.) purchased for completing the assignment, with their original and valid bills to the NTS-I, CIIL. More than 30% of the total contingency amount cannot be spent for photocopies, purchase of pens, pencils, internet facilities, or similar consumable stationery materials, etc.
  • Poor/Delayed work will be outrightly rejected and no communication will be entertained in this regard.
  • The decision of the experts/competent authorities will be final for the acceptance/rejection of the submitted work.
  • Any recommended revision will be carried out by the concerned author(s) without any extra charge within 45 days.
  • All rights related to copyrights, authorships, reproduction in any form, sale & display, etc., of the above work/manuscript, will remain with the NTS-I/CIIL. Violation of this will lead to strict action against the individual(s) responsible.
  • The concerned author/scholar/ will not put the above manuscript in any public domain or reveal its contents to any other agency/individual. Violation of this will lead to strict action against the individual responsible.
  • Since these publications are produced, published and sold at a very low cost in the interest of the academia and general public, no royalty/money will be payable to any individual at any stage of the publication or afterwards.
  • The final selection of the interested academicians and scholars will be made by the CIIL. The decision of the NTS-I/CIIL will be final and obligatory in this regard.

  • Purpose
    The purpose of the programme is to provide the stakeholders with the training in the area of testing and evaluation so that stakeholders themselves can identify the defects in the syllabus, textbooks, methods of teaching, etc., and can make appropriate modifications/changes and thereby making the teaching learning process more effective.
  • Compensation
    The participants will be paid TA (Sleeper Class / 3rd AC / Bus Fare) as per the institute rules preferably in their bank accounts within 15 days after the completion of the programme. A simple vegetarian Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner will be provided during the programme.Full attendance and active participation in the programme is essential to become eligible for compensation of any kind (i.e., TA and Honorarium).
  • Accommodation
    Accommodation will be provided for outstation participants at concessional rates in the SRLC Hostel, given availabillity. Educational Technology Unit and National Testing Service- India under the Central Institute of Indian Languages invite applications from suitable candidates for participation in a 45-day (only working day) workshop on the preparation of online language learning lessons/plans. These lessons/plans will be delivered over a mobile application-based platform. Resources are required in the following languages:

These positions are suitable for candidates who have recently graduated and are looking for a short-term engagement in projects/schemes to enhance their knowledge and skills.
  • Available Positions
    Total number of available positions are 12 (twelve) only. However, the number of positions may be increased or decreased given the availability of the work/fund, etc., or the decision of the of the competent authority.
  • Educational Qualification
    A Master degree in Linguistics/Language Sciences/Languages. The candidates having MPhil/PhD in Linguistics/Languages may be preferred
  • Eligibility
  • A native speaker of one of the above languages with advanced reading, writing and speaking skills in it.
  • A Master degree in Linguistics/Language Sciences/Languages. The candidates having MPhil/PhD in Linguistics/Languages will be prepared.
  • Excellent command of English, and working proficiency in Hindi.
  • Ability to work in groups and flair for academics and research.
  • The ability to work in multiple languages with a proven academic/professional record is highly desirable.
  • Responsibilities
  • Preparation of Second Language Learning Lessons
  • Preparation of assessment questions/exercises/framework, etc.
  • Excellent command of English, and working proficiency in Hindi.
  • Conducting independent research by referring to textbooks / journals / papers / articles / internet / Academic Database, etc.
  • Must be able to switch between different interdisciplinary areas/given tasks from time to time as per requirement.
  • Honorarium
  • Apart from the TA(Travelling Allowance) as per the institute norms, resource persons having MA / MPhil / Ph.D. qualification will to be paid honorarium of Rs. 750 / 800 / 1000 per working day, respectively.
  • The candidates will be duly acknowledged / recognized for their successfully completion of the work as per rules and decision of the supervising authority.
  • The candidates having lower qualifications (MA/MPhil) but better skills and work ethics may be provided with a higher honorarium subject to the approval of the competent authorities.
  • Accommodation
    Accommodation may be provided to the outstation participants at concessional rates in the SRLC Hostel, given availability. Participants should carry their own bed sheet, blanket, mosquito coil, toiletries, etc. accommodation arrangement for spouse / family members / friends, etc. will be not made at any cost.
  • Terms and conditions
  • The Scholars applying for these positions should be willing to stay here for 45 working days. Any break (except under unavoidable situations) during the workshop will not be entertained.
  • The candidates must have their own laptops (minimum configuration of Core 2 duo processor with 4 GB RAM and windows 7 & above) for the purpose of assigned work. Office space and internet connection will be provided.
  • The candidates successfully shall complete the assigned work within given deadline to be eligible for any honorarium.
  • The period of the workshop may be extended or reduced given the volume and nature of work, availability of funds, or due to any unforeseen reasons. In such case, the candidates may immediately be asked to leave the work / hostel / premises, etc. In any such case, decision of the supervising/competent authorities will be final and binding.
  • Participation in such academic workshops is purely temporary and need-based in nature. It does not amount to any claim / favor / priority to any other position in the Schemes / Projects / Unit of the Institute.
  • All participants must abide by the code of conduct / guidelines laid down by competent authority during their participation in the programme / workshop. CIIL is a subordinate office functioning under MoE, New Delhi, and Government of India. Any violation / misconduct during the programme/workshop will attract serious disciplinary action as per the institute / GOI rules.
